These fossils consist of Homo neandhertal, Homo Sapiens, to fossils of animals both vertebrate animals, sea animals and human artifacts from Antiquity. This museum has an area of ​​56 kilometers and is included in 3 districts in Sragen Regency, namely Gamolong, Kalijambe and Pelupuh. one location in Karanganyar is located in Gondang Rejo District.

The early story of the history of the Sangiran Sragen Museum in Central Java in the Sangiran area began in the 1930s with the discovery of a skull roof by a local resident, Setu Wiryorejo, who worked as a farmer and found the fossil in the area where he worked, because it was considered as an important discovery, finally conducted a first study by a Dutch citizen named G.H.R Von Koenigswad around the area, it was true, a lot of rare objects buried in this Sangiran land. Finally, Von Koenigswad invited local residents to participate in the search and collect it as research evidence, fossils and skeletons that were found together were collected in one of the houses owned by the local village head, and the collection process lasted quite a long time until 40 years, and completed in 1975.

After doing research for decades, this museum has collected more than 15,000 fossils, this figure is the largest number in the history of museums in Indonesia. In fact, the Sangiran museum is among the most complete and largest museums in the world. This is an achievement that deserves thumbs up.
