Madakaripura Waterfall

Who does not know Mount Bromo. The beauty of the rising sun makes all the world stunned and its beauty is already known and recognized by the world. Madakaripura Waterfall, hidden between the slopes of Mount Bromo which is full of Javanese Myths and Javanese Mysteries, a waterfall full of mysteries and challenges to reach it, This waterfall has a magical charm that is so strong. This charm makes anyone feel curious and want to visit this place, and its location is in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, precisely on the slopes of Mount Bromo.

History, Mysteries, Myths and Facts.
The name Madakaripura comes from 3 names, namely: Mada is taken from the name Elephant, Kari means death, and Pura means prayer or meditation. So, Madakaripura means Elephant Dies while praying.

According to local stories, Mahapatih Gajah Mada (known by another name : Jirnnodhara was a Warlord and Mahapatih who was a very influential figure in the era of the Majapahit kingdom) spent the rest of his life in this waterfall, Even until he died he was still here to contemplate what he had done.  It is known that Mahapatih Gajahmada went to this place when he was removed as Mahapatih. The resignation was because Mahapatih Gajahmada had massacred hundreds of people in the Sunda Galuh Kingdom.

Madakaripura Waterfall is also often referred to as the Eternal Waterfall. This is because the water flowed by this waterfall is always abundant and the static discharge never decreases throughout the year, be it the rainy season or dry season.

The next myth is that if you visit this waterfall then you have to go home before 2 pm. Locals also believe that it is more than 2 pm.  Then the rain will happen suddenly, and this rain water will make the water discharge rise, so it is dangerous for you if you are still in this area.

This 200 meter high waterfall is the highest waterfall on the island of Java and the second highest in Indonesia, located at the end of a narrow valley in the form of an alcove surrounded by steep cliffs that drip water all over the cliff area as if it were raining, 4 of which even flow.  descends in a circle to form another waterfall, one of which is shaped like a cavity. According to the belief of the surrounding community, the cavity is the place of mokshanya of the Maha Patih Gajah Mada. When viewed geographically, the location of this waterfall is at the end of a fairly deep valley and descends with a centrifugal radial flow pattern. That is, a single point spread. So, if we look deeper, this waterfall will spread. So it's like rain. Very impressive indeed.  Moreover, when the sun tries to illuminate this flock of rainwater.  The beauty of this area is not only in the water that comes down from above. Rather, it is water that is created to produce a flow Impressive blue in color, and the sound of this waterfall is believed to be relaxing, the sound of a waterfall presents waves that can cause quite a dramatic effect on brain waves. This is one of the attractions that seem unreal, an attraction that only exists at the Madakaripura waterfall. I don't know why, even though I'm tired, but after leaving this place all burdens and fatigue seem to disappear instantly.
